I work at a police station on a remote island.
Before coming to this station, I worked at a police station in town.
I am not unlucky to live in the countryside.
I thought it would be a good opportunity to live in close proximity to work and not have to live an irregular life of three shifts.
However, there was a problem with this police station.
The ghost of a headless policeman appeared.
I was surprised at first.
But the ghost doesn’t seem that dangerous.
It seems to be indifferent to me.
So I gradually became accustomed to living with ghosts.
But I was curious about the ghost’s true identity.
So every time I went to a meeting, I tried to ask about the ghost at the police station.
However, the residents would always say, “You shouldn’t worry about it,” and wouldn’t tell me anything about it.
I thought that maybe it was something they didn’t want to tell me, so I couldn’t ask them anything.
I didn’t want to damage the relationship with the residents.
Then one day, I spoke to the ghost and said, “You’re a nice guy.”
There was no deep meaning in those words.
I was just trying to communicate with the ghost who always appeared to me, and I was just trying to flatter him a little.
But when he heard my words, he came up to me with a frightening look on his face.
“Can you see my face?” …
I had never been so frightened and intimidated.
I was so frightened that I immediately ran away from the place.
I then went to the village headman’s house and told him what had happened.
The village chief had a grim expression on his face and stubbornly kept his mouth shut.
Still, I asked him in a strong tone about the ghost of the police station.
The mayor handed me an old, tattered envelope and said, “If you look inside this envelope, you will surely die.
If you are ready for that, take a look.”
I picked up the envelope and was about to check inside.
Suddenly, I heard someone banging on the front door.
When I and the village head went to the front door, it was open, but no one was there.
Could it be that ghost? I have a feeling that that ghost is there…but I can’t see him anywhere.
I was looking around fearfully with this thought in my mind when suddenly I felt a cold chill on my back.
Suddenly, I felt a chill run down my back and I passed out.
How much time had passed since then?
When I came to my senses, I was in a state of “kinbaku” (a state in which one’s body is bound by a gold chain).
The ghost kept muttering to me, “You saw it, you saw it, you saw it….”
Then, startled, I involuntarily shouted in my mind, “What in the world do you want?”
What the hell do you want to do to me?
The ghost replied, “I want to be alone.
I want to be alone. I just want to keep thinking until I reach happiness.”
With these words, he seemed to have gone back to his house. The police station…
After that, I used another building as a police station.
The village head told me about the ghost of the police station.
That policeman started a fire at the police station because he mismanaged the fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished, but the policeman was badly burned.
Since then, that policeman has been avoiding people.
The burns made him look very bad, so I guess it was no wonder.
But everyone on the island was angry because they didn’t want a policeman like that.
Perhaps because of the cold treatment he received from everyone, he committed suicide.
His wife also left after that.
The envelope has his picture on it.
I don’t want you to know anything more about it.
I still pray that he will find happiness soon.
